SUMMARY:

The Intern provides support to the department by assisting with daily tasks, projects, and administrative duties. This entry-level role is designed to offer hands-on experience, professional development, and exposure to workplace operations. The intern will work closely with team members to learn processes, build skills, and contribute to departmental goals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role does not have supervisory responsibilities. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist team members with assigned projects and activities.
  • Conduct research, gather data, and prepare reports or presentations.
  • Help organize information, documents, and materials for departmental use.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure information is organized and accessible.
  • Support meetings by preparing materials, taking notes, or coordinating logistics.
  • Work closely with supervisors and team members to understand priorities and deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, sharing updates and asking questions when needed.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
  • Learn department-specific tools, processes, and software.
  • Seek feedback and apply guidance to improve skills and performance.
  • Explore industry knowledge and best practices relevant to assigned tasks.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Assist other departments when appropriate to gain broader organizational exposure.

           SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

          • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
          • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or relevant tools.
          • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and ask questions.
          • Ability to work collaboratively on a team and follow direction.
          • Attention to detail and commitment to completing tasks accurately.

           EDUCATION

          Required

          • Currently enrolled in a high school, college, or university program, or recently graduated.
          • Degree focus aligned with the internship area preferred (e.g., Business, Engineering, Finance, Marketing, HR).

          • Primarily sedentary work involving prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
          • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, mouse use, and handling documents.
          • Visual acuity required to read computer screens, printed materials, and digital devices.
          • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching within the office environment.
          • Occasional lifting or carrying of light items such as files, office supplies, or a laptop (typically up to 10–20 pounds).

          Regular communication through speaking and hearing in person, by phone, and during virtual meetings.
